SHIMER, Samuel C., a Representative from Northampton County; born, 1822 in Pennsylvania; attended, Moravian Boarding School (now, Moravian College); farmer; miller; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1864 and 1865 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1866 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1875-1876); merchant; ticket agent, Luzerne and Susquehanna Railroad; died, October 4, 1885 in Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Nisky Hill Cemetery, Bethlehem, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
