SMITH, Edward Keasbey, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, 1822 in Salem, Salem County, NJ; surveyor; assistant civil engineer, Illinois and Indiana; read law; engaged, mercantile business; engaged, machine, foundry, and coal business; lumber merchant; elected as a Union Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1863; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1864); organizer, Columbia Deposit Company (1870-1880); banker, E. K. Smith & Co. (1881-1893); died, March 27, 1899 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Bethel Cemetery, Columbia, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
