McMURTRIE, Robert Allison, a Representative from Blair and Huntingdon Counties; born, December 15, 1811 in Petersburg, Huntingdon County, Pa; graduated, Jefferson College (now, Washington and Jefferson College); lawyer (1833-1880); elected as a Whig to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1844; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1851-1853); reelected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1862 and as a Union Republican in 1863; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1845, 1864); died, August 29, 1880 in Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hollidaysburg Presbyterian Cemetery, Hollidaysburg, Blair County, Pennsylvania.
