LONG, Zachariah H., a Representative from Carbon and Lehigh Counties; born, June 3, 1819 in Jacksonville, Lehigh County, Pa.; merchant; postmaster, United States Postal Service, New Mahoning (1852); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1859 and 1863; not a candidate for reelection (1860, 1864); elected, delegate, Pennsylvania Constitutional Convention (1872-1873); butcher; unsuccessful campaign, register and recorder, Lehighton, Pa. (1881); died, May 11, 1885 in Lehighton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Lehighton Cemetery, Lehighton, Carbon County, Pennsylvania.
