BECK, John B., a Representative from Clinton, Lycoming and Potter Counties; born, February 5, 1813 in Shrewsbury, York County, Pa.; tailor; publisher, Lycoming Gazette (1844-1851); elected, delegate, Democratic State Convention (1849, 1852); elected, sheriff, Lycoming County (1850-1853); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1854 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1855 term; seated to the 1856 term to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a result of a contested election, February of 1856; proprietor, hardware business (1863-1865); reelected to the House for the 1863 and 1864 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1865 term; elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1867-1870); died, October 25, 1890 in Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Williamsport Cemetery, Williamsport, Lycoming County, Pennsylvania.
