HAKES, Dr. Harry, a Representative from Luzerne County; born, June 10, 1825 in Harpersfield, Delaware County, NY; M.D., Castleton Medical College, Vt., 1846; attended, medical schools, New York City (1850), Paris and London (1854); honorary doctorate of law, Lafayette College, 1903; physician (1846-1857); farmer; lawyer (1860-1904); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1864 and 1865 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1866 term; vintner; died, April 20, 1904 in Wilkes Barre, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
