GUERNSEY, John Wallace, a Representative from Potter and Tioga Counties; born, January 28, 1810 in Hudson, Columbia County, NY; attended, Montrose Academy; attorney-at-law; appointed, United States Marshall (1840); enumerator, United States Census, Potter County (1840); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1851-1852); cashier, Tioga County Bank; elected as a Union Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1864 term and a Republican to the 1865 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1866 term; died, November 29, 1882 in Tioga, Tioga County, Pennsylvania; interred, Evergreen Cemetery, Tioga, Tioga County, Pennsylvania.
