ANDERSON, Alexander, a Representative from Armstrong County; born, January 6, 1818 in Scraban, Tyrone County, Ireland; commander, Armstrong County Militia (1852); elected, Brigadier General, 2nd Brigade, 18th Division, Pennsylvania Militia (1854); captain, Company D, 14th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1862, Civil War); farmer; tailor; merchant; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Freeport, Pa. (1847-1849); elected, director and treasurer, school board, Freeport (1862-1863); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1865 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1866 term; engaged, jewelry business; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1875); died, January 31, 1880 in Freeport, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania; interred, Freeport Cemetery, Freeport, Armstrong County, Pennsylvania.
