KELLEY, James Robinson, a Representative from Beaver and Washington Counties; born, March 1, 1839 in County Antrim, Ireland; attended, Hayesville Academy, Oh.; private, Company H, 31st Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry (1861-1863, Civil War); journalist; elected as a Union Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1864 term; reelected to the House as a Republican for the 1865 and 1866 terms; elected, Speaker (1866); farmer; co-owner and editor, Washington Reporter; elected, delegate, Republican State Convention (1869, 1871); died, August 9, 1871 in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Upper Buffalo Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
