BARR, William W., a Representative from Clarion and Jefferson Counties; born, February 15, 1827 in Centre County, Pa.; attended, Dickinson Seminary (now Lycoming College); studied law, Joseph Alexander; teacher; lawyer (1852-1900); transcribing clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1852-1853); elected, District Attorney, Clarion County (1854-1860, 1869-1874); elected, treasurer, Clarion County (1861-1864); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1865 and 1866 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1867 term; director, Clarion County Railroad Company (1873); trustee, Clarion State Normal School (now Pennsylvania Western University) (1887); appointed, judge, Clarion and Jefferson Counties (1891); died, February 27, 1900 in Clarion, Clarion County, Pennsylvania; interred, Clarion Cemetery, Clarion, Clarion County, Pennsylvania.
