GLASS, John P., a Representative from Allegheny County; born, 1821 in Pennsylvania; captain, Excelsior Brigade, “Pittsburg Zouaves,” 74th Regiment, New York Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); manager, United States Postal Service, Pittsburgh Post Office; telegraph operator; elected as a Union Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1864 term; reelected to the House as a Republican for the 1865, 1866 and 1867 terms; elected, Speaker (1867); not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1868 term; died, March 15, 1868 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
