SHARPLESS, Nathan J., a Representative from Chester County; born, July 28, 1823 near Downingtown, Chester County, Pa.; farmer; elected, justice of the peace, West Marlboro Township; elected, school director, West Marlboro Township; engaged in real estate and insurance; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1864, 1865 and 1866; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1867); land surveyor; died, May 30, 1893 in West Grove, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Downingtown Friends Meetinghouse Cemetery, Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
