WINGARD, Samuel Cyrus, a Representative from Lycoming, Snyder and Union Counties; born, August 6, 1825 in Huntingdon County, Pa.; A.B., Dickinson College, 1847; commissary sergeant, 4th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1862, Civil War); teacher, Williamsburg Academy; lawyer (1851-1874); attorney, Pennsylvania Railroad (10 years); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1866 and 1867 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1868 term; presidential appointee, United States District Attorney, Washington territory (1870-1874); presidential appointee, associate judge, Supreme Court, Washington territory (1875-1887); died, May 4, 1910 in Walla Walla, Walla Walla County, Washington.
