THARP, Charles W., a Representative from Northumberland County; born, December 25, 1818 in Milton, Northumberland County, Pa.; attended, Milton Academy; read law, Curtin and Blanchard; lawyer (1843-1895); elected, deputy attorney general, Northumberland County (1848-1850); elected, District Attorney, Northumberland County (1853-1856); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat to the 1866 and 1867 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1868 term; director, The Milton Trust and Safe Deposit Company; died, June 11, 1895 in Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Upper Cemetery, Milton, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
