BOYD, Stephen Gill, a Representative from York County; born, December 6, 1830 in Peach Bottom, York County, Pa.; attended, Bryansville and Whitehall Academies; attended, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania); farmer; teacher; principal, Wrightsville schools; associate principal, Summer Normal School, York, Pa.; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1866 and 1867; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1868); elected, superintendent, York County (1869-1872); organizer and president, Peach Bottom Railroad Company (later York Southern Railroad Company) (1871-1877); president, Baltimore and Delta Railroad (1877-1884); editor, York Gazette (1887-1890); attorney (1893-1899); died, September 27, 1899 in York, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, Prospect Hill Cemetery, York, York County, Pennsylvania.
