HOTTENSTEIN, Charles, a Representative from Northumberland County; born, May 25, 1811 in Maidencreek Township, Berks County, Pa.; attended, Academy at Reading; teacher; land surveyor; elected, township auditor, Berks County; elected, clerk of county poorhouse (1 year); farmer; elected, Justice of the Peace, Northumberland County (1854); elected, commissioner, Northumberland County (1855-1858); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1859 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1860 term; delegate, Democratic National Convention (1860); elected, auditor, Northumberland County (1876-1878); employed, Milton Argus; died, March 8, 1891 in Turbut Township, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Paradise Cemetery, Watsontown, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
