PLACE, James, a Representative from Carbon and Monroe Counties; born, 1814 in Pennsylvania; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1869 term, not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1870 term; died, February 21, 1882 in Middle Smithfield, Monroe County, Pennsylvania; interred, Middle Smithfield Presbyterian Burying Ground, Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
