HUNTER, James Alexander, a Representative from Indiana and Westmoreland Counties; born, April 18, 1835 in Colerain, Lancaster County, Pa.; school teacher; read law, judge James Todd; lawyer (1858-1877, 1889-1893); appointed, register of bankruptcy, 22nd District (1867-1869); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1869 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1870 term; president judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Westmoreland County (appointed, 1877-1879; elected, 1880-1889); died, June 14, 1893, Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Saint Clair Cemetery, Greensburg, Westmoreland County, Pennsylvania.
