PETERS, Jacob Gamber, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, September 4, 1834 in Millersville, Lancaster County, Pa.; attended, Mercersburg Academy; graduated, Franklin and Marshall College, 1853; engaged, lumber business; farmer; general agent, Farmers’ Mutual Insurance Company of Lancaster; elected, delegate, State Republican Convention (1860); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1868; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1869); superintendent, Lancaster and New Danville Turnpike Company; director, Millersville Street Railway Company; trustee, Millersville State Normal School (now Millersville University of Pennsylvania) (1863-1887); died, August 10, 1887 in Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Zion Church of Millersville Cemetery, Millersville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
