McCREARY, David Berkley, a Representative from Erie County; born, February 27, 1826 in Millcreek Township, Erie County, Pa.; attended, Erie Academy; attended, Washington College (now Washington & Jefferson College); colonel and brevet brigadier general, 145th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1865, Civil War; prisoner of war, 1864-1865); teacher; attorney-at-law (1851-1906); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1866, 1867 and 1870 terms; Adjutant General of Pennsylvania (1867-1870); trustee, Dixmont State Hospital (6 years); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1889-1896); died, February 4, 1906 in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania; interred, Erie Cemetery, Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania.
