PORTER, Dr. Benjamin Franklin, a Representative from York County; born, May 19, 1827 in Mill Creek Hundred, New Castle County, De.; attended, Delaware College (now University of Delaware); M.D., Jefferson Medical College (now, Thomas Jefferson University), 1855; physician; school director, Chanceford Township; farmer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1868 and 1869; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1870); died, June 16, 1886 in Chanceford Township, York County, Pennsylvania; interred, New Harmony Presbyterian Church Cemetery, Brogue, York County, Pennsylvania.
