ZERBE, Dr. Jonathan, a Representative from Lebanon County; born, July 31, 1812 in Tulpehoken Township, Berks County, Pa.; attended, Jefferson Medical College (now Sidney Kimmel Medical College); attended, University of Maryland; physician; engaged, mercantile business (1846-1854); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1861); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1870; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1871); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1874); director, People’s Freight Railway; died, April 3, 1877 in Schaeffertown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Schaeffertown Cemetery, Schaeffertown, Lebanon County, Pennsylvania.
