ROSE, William Horace, a Representative from Cambria County; born, November 17, 1838 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa.; attended, Elder’s Ridge Academy; studied law under John P. Linton; adjutant, 54th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1864, Civil War); employed, tannery; screw cutter, S. H. Smith Machine Shop; moulder, Pringle, Rose, & Edson; moulder, Cambria Iron Company; carpenter; attorney (1860-1913); elected, burgess, Ebensburg (1869); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1870; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1871); elected, District Attorney, Cambria County (1878-1880); elected, mayor, Johnstown (1890-1893); unsuccessful campaign, superior judge, Pennsylvania Court of Common Pleas, Cambria County (1895); died, December 19, 1913 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grandview Cemetery, Southmont; Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
