WILLIAMS, Richard, a Representative from Luzerne County; born, February 22, 1815 in Llandybie, Carmarthenshire, Wales; coal miner; president, State Labor Union; chairman, Board of Arbitration, State Labor Union; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1871 and 1872 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1873 term; unsuccessful campaign as a Greenback- Labor Party candidate, United States Congress (1878); justice of the peace, Banks Township (1881-1883); died, January 30, 1883 in Audenried, Carbon County, Pennsylvania; interred, Vine Street Cemetery, Hazelton, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania.
