STIER, Michael Gilbert, a Representative from Northampton County; born, November 2, 1826 in Warren County, NJ; merchant; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Boston, Pa. (1851-1861); postmaster, United States Postal Service, Johnsonville, Pa. (1866-1869); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1872; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1873); died, September 26, 1895 in Johnsonville, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Stier’s Cemetery, Upper Mount Bethel Township, Northampton County, Pennsylvania.
