BURKHOLDER, David K., a Representative from Lancaster County; born, March 16, 1834 in Conestoga Township, Lancaster County, Pa.; employed, machine shop (1850-1855); engaged, coal and iron business (1856-1858); engineer, saw mill (1858); engineer, Rohrerstown Rolling Mill (1859-1873); elected, common council, Lancaster; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1871 and 1872; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1873); engineer, Penn Iron Works (1874-1882); watchman (1883-1884); elected, prison keeper, Lancaster (1884-1887); elected, sheriff, Lancaster County (1887-1890); manager, Red Rose Farm, race horses (1890-1895); engineer, court house (1896-1910); died, September 23, 1911 near Neffsville, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mellinger Mennonite Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
