DeWITT, Dr. Abraham Tressler, a Representative from Montour and Northumberland Counties; born, January 23, 1837 in Augusta Township, Northumberland County, Pa.; attended, Boalsburg Academy; attended, Freeburg Academy; attended, Missionary Institute (now Susquehanna University); graduated, medical studies, University of Vermont, 1862; assistant surgeon, 54th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1863, Civil War); assistant surgeon, 112th Regiment, 2nd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (1863- 1866, Civil War); mill worker; teacher; doctor; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1873 and 1874 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1875 term; elected, transcribing clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1875); farmer; died, July 21, 1915 in Riverside, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania; interred, Mount Vernon Cemetery, Riverside, Northumberland County, Pennsylvania.
