BURCHINELL, William K., a Representative from Huntingdon County; born in Huntingdon County, Pa., October 12, 1846; private, Company L, 160th Regiment, 15th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1862-1863, Civil War); private, Signal Corps, United States Volunteer Infantry (1863-1864, Civil War); apprentice, locomotive factory; engaged, planing mill business; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1874 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1875 term; receiver, United States Land Office, Colorado (1875-1883); elected, sheriff, Arapahoe County, Colorado (1892-1896); unsuccessful campaign, governor, Colorado (1896); president, Golden Ocean Mining Company, LaPlatte Placer Mining Company, Grouse Mountain Gold Mining and Tunnel Company, and Mineral Hill Gold Mining Company (1898-1906); died, November 3, 1923 in Seattle, King County, Washington; interred, Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Denver County, Colorado.
