POTTER, Dr. Johnson William, a Representative from Clearfield County; born, March 6, 1835 in Clarion Township, Clarion County, Pa.; read medicine, Dr. Matthew West; attended, medicine, Washington Infirmary, Columbian College (now George Washington University), 1859-1860; store clerk; teacher; physician (1860-1877); lumber merchant; proprietor, Potter House Hotel; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Three Runs (1868); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1874 term, unsuccessful campaign for election to the House (1868, 1875); director, Clearfield National Bank; died, March 31, 1898 in Clearfield County, Pennsylvania; interred, Keewaydin Cemetery, Keewaydin, Clearfield County, Pennsylvania.
