WEBB, James H., a Representative from Bradford and Sullivan Counties; born, December 4, 1829 in Tioga, Tioga County, NY; captain, Company I, 47th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); farmer; elected, clerk of Orphan’s Court, register of wills and recorder of deeds, Bradford County (1854-1860, 1881-1883); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1867 term, reelected to serve five more terms, 1868, 1869, 1870, 1871 and 1874; elected, Speaker (1871); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1872, 1875); lawyer (1883-1896); died, February 21, 1896 in Towanda, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Cemetery, East Smithfield, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
