ALLISON, Jonathan, a Representative from Beaver, Butler and Washington Counties; born, February 3, 1828 in Chartiers Township, Washington County, Pa.; attended, Jefferson College (now Washington and Jefferson College); farmer; owner and operator, Allison Coal Mine, McGovern, Pa. (1872-1891); elected, justice of peace (1872-1873); elected, school director (1872-1873); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1873 and 1874 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1875 term; president, Allison Land Company; unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1882); vice president, Citizens’ National Bank of Washington; postmaster, United States Postal Service, McGovern, Pa. (1886-1890); died, December 17, 1908 in Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Washington Cemetery, Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania.
