PHELPS, John Wheelock, a Representative from Cameron County; born, May 27, 1829 in Smithfield, Bradford County, Pa.; dry goods merchant and grocery store proprietor; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1875 and 1876 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1877 term; died, July 9, 1907 in Danville, Montour County, Pennsylvania; interred, East Smithfield Cemetery, East Smithfield, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
