PATTERSON, Samuel Findley, a Representative from Allegheny County; born, February 7, 1842 in West Middletown, Washington County, Pa.; attended, Ewald College; teacher; school principal; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1874 and 1875; elected, Speaker (1875-1876); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1876); founder and principal, Patterson Institute; died, November 25, 1912 in Independence Township, Washington County, Pennsylvania; interred, Allegheny Cemetery, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania.
