MILLER, Joseph Daniel, a Representative from Somerset County; born, March 21, 1839 in Milford, Somerset County, Pa.; corporal, Company C, 54th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1864, Civil War); teacher (1855-1861, 1865-1870); transcribing clerk, Pennsylvania State Legislature (1868-1870); proprietor, general store (1870-1913); clerk, Milford Township; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1875 and 1876 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1877 term; died, November 29, 1913 in Rockwood, Somerset County, Pennsylvania; interred, Union Cemetery, New Centerville, Somerset County, Pennsylvania.
