BOYER, Joshua, a Representative from Schuylkill County; born, May 25, 1812 in East Brunswick, Schuylkill County, Pa.; major, 2nd Battalion, Pennsylvania Volunteers (1838); engaged, mercantile business; postmaster, United States Postal Service, McKeansburg, Pa. (1839-1865); hotel proprietor; elected, register and recorder, Schuylkill County (1855-1858); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1864, 1874 and 1875; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1865, 1874); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1873); elected, tax collector, East Brunswick; retail grocer; elected, justice of the peace, East Brunswick; died, January 7, 1900 in Tamaqua, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania; interred, Little Schuylkill Church Cemetery (now Friedens Church Cemetery), New Ringgold, Schuylkill County, Pennsylvania.
