BEDFORD, Richard, Jr., a Representative from Clinton, Lycoming and Sullivan Counties; born, September 12, 1812 in Leeds, Yorkshire, England; farmer; Methodist minister; elected, superintendent of common schools, Sullivan County (1854-1857); elected, treasurer, Sullivan County (1855-1856); elected, associate judge, Sullivan County (1861-1870); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1874, 1875 and 1876 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1877 term; died, January 31, 1884 in Sullivan County, Pennsylvania; interred, Greenwood Cemetery, Elkland, Sullivan County, Pennsylvania.
