SHOEMAKER, Andrew Jackson, a Representative from Monroe County; born, February 23, 1837 in Shoemakers, Monroe County, Pa.; farmer; horse breeder; postmaster, United States Postal Service, Shoemakers (1872-1889); elected as an Independent Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1876 and 1877; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1878); died, December 16, 1911 in Lehman, Pike County, Pennsylvania; interred, Sand Hill Cemetery, Shoemakers, Monroe County, Pennsylvania.
