SHANTZ, Harry H., a Representative from Philadelphia County; born, May 12, 1838 in Lawrenceville, Chester County, Pa.; sergeant, Company C, 71st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1862, Civil War); first lieutenant, Company B, 44th Regiment, Pennsylvania Emergency Militia (1863, Civil War); captain, Company F, 197th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1864, Civil War); gold and metal engraver; elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1877 term, not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1879 term; clerk; died, December 27, 1913 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, West Laurel Hill Cemetery, Bala Cynwyd, Montgomery County, Pennsylvania.
