MYER, Elijah Reed, a Representative from Bradford County; born, July 25, 1818 in Canton Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; miller; farmer; elected to the Pennsylvania State Senate (1857-1860); presidential appointee, surveyor of customs, United States Customs Service, Philadelphia (1861-1867); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in 1872, 1873, 1876 and 1877; elected, Speaker (1877-1878); not a candidate for reelection to the House (1874, 1878); died, May 18, 1911 in Canton Township, Bradford County, Pennsylvania; interred, Wysox Cemetery, Wysox, Bradford County, Pennsylvania.
