STEINMETZ, Jacob Lieber, a Representative from Lancaster County; born, August 22, 1845 in Annville, Lebanon County, Pa.; attended, Annville Academy; graduated, Dickinson Seminary (now Lycoming College); A.M. and B.L., Michigan State University, 1870; lawyer (1870-1894); elected, delegate, Democratic National Convention (1876); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1876 and 1877; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1878); president, People’s National  Bank (1890); organized, People’s Trust Company (1892); president, Citizen Electric Light Company, Lancaster; proprietor, Hotel Calico, Ephrata (1896-1904); died, February 15, 1904 in Ephrata, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania; interred, Woodward Hills Cemetery, Lancaster, Lancaster County, Pennsylvania.
