MARTIN, William Augustus, a Representative from Adams County; born, August 17, 1842 in Adams County, Pa.; farmer; engaged, ambrotype business (2 years); engaged in the lumber and charcoal industries; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to the 1877 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1878 term; enumerator, United States Census, Adams County (1880); elected, Pennsylvania State Senate (1886-1890, 1908-1912); unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the State Senate (1912); vice president, Citizens Trust Company; died, October 22, 1922 in Gettysburg, Adams County; Pennsylvania; interred, Greenmount Cemetery, Arendtsville, Adams County, Pennsylvania.
