Edgar, a Representative from Blair County; born, March 14, 1838 in Duncannon, Perry County, Pa.; attended, New Bloomfield Academy; lawyer (1859-1900); publisher, Fulton County Republican and Blair County Whig; editor and publisher, Blair County Radical; transcribing clerk, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1866); doorkeeper, Pennsylvania State Senate (1867); Assistant United States Marshall (1870); assistant assessor, United States Treasury Department (1872-1873); storekeeper-gauger, United States Treasury Department (1877); elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives as a Republican in a Special Election, November 6, 1877 to serve the remaining 1877 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1878); watchman, Capitol grounds, Harrisburg, Department of General Services, Commonwealth of Pennsylvania; died, January 11, 1900 in Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania; interred, Arlington Cemetery, Drexel Hill, Delaware County, Pennsylvania.
