JACKSON, John, a Representative from Wyoming County; born, February 1, 1811 in Tunkhannock, Wyoming County, Pa.; farmer; elected, sheriff, Wyoming County (1848-1849); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania House of Representatives (1864, 1874); elected, president, Democratic Senatorial Conferee Convention, 14th Senatorial District (1872); elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1876 and 1877; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1878); vice president, Wyoming National Bank; unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1888, 1890); died, January 28, 1895 in La Grange (now Tunkhannock), Wyoming County, Pennsylvania; interred, Jackson Cemetery, La Grange, Wyoming County, Pennsylvania.
