HARRIS, Dr. Amos J., a Representative from Northampton County; born, November 5, 1836 in Hellertown, Northampton County, Pa.; graduated, University of New York (now New York University), 1861; physician and surgeon; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1876 and 1877; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1878); engaged, mercantile business; druggist; elected, chair, Democratic County Convention, Osborne County, Kansas (1885-1886); appointed, receiver, United States Land Office, Kirwin, Kansas (1886-1889); elected, school director, Hellertown, Pa.; died, December 25, 1911 in Hellertown, Northampton County, Pennsylvania; interred, Durham Cemetery, Durham, Bucks County, Pennsylvania.
