GARMAN, Theorus D., a Representative from Juniata County; born in Thompsontown, Juniata County, Pa., October 7, 1841; educated in the common schools; quartermaster sergeant, Company F, 161st Regiment, 16th Pennsylvania Volunteer Cavalry (1862-1865; Civil War); tailor; school teacher; editor, Publishing House, Cincinnati, Oh.; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1876; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1877); editor, Juniata Tribune (1878-1889); lawyer (1890-1909); clerk, Pennsylvania Department of State; died, February 28, 1909 in Nanticoke, Luzerne County, Pennsylvania; interred, Westminster Presbyterian Cemetery, Mifflintown, Juniata County, Pennsylvania.
