EDGE, Dr. John Pennell, a Representative from Chester County; born, June 22, 1822 in East Caln, Chester County, Pa.; attended, Jefferson College, (1846-1847); private, Company D and I, 72nd Regiment, "Fire Zouaves," Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861, Civil War); teacher; farmer; physician; elected to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives in 1874, 1875, and 1876; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1878); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1880); appointed, State Board of Agriculture (1893-1896); died, March 7, 1904 in Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania; interred, Downingtown Friends Meetinghouse Cemetery, Downingtown, Chester County, Pennsylvania.
