DOWNEY, John, a Representative from Cambria County; born, March 5, 1842 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pa.; captain, Company A, 133rd Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862-1863, Civil War); stenographer; engaged, insurance business; civil engineer; elected as a Democrat to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1877 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1879 term; city engineer, Johnstown (1890-1893); died, April 20, 1910 in Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania; interred, Grandview Cemetery, Johnstown, Cambria County, Pennsylvania.
