DICKEY, John McVicker, a Representative from Venango County; born, November 13, 1827 in Mauch Chuck (now Jim Thorpe), Carbon County, Pa.; farmer; engaged, oil business; elected, auditor, Mercer County (1862-1864); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1875, 1876 and 1877 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House (1878); unsuccessful campaign, Pennsylvania State Senate (1878); organizer, Savings Bank of Franklin; superintendent, Norfolk, Albemarle & Atlantic Railroad; proprietor, Princess Anne Hotel, Virginia Beach, Va.; died, July 17, 1893 in Franklin, Venango County, Pennsylvania; interred, Franklin Cemetery, Franklin, Venango County, Pennsylvania.
