CREPS, Jacob, a Representative from Indiana County; born, March 4, 1836 in Indiana County, Pa.; captain, Company A, 61st Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1861-1864, Civil War); teacher; farmer; cattle stock-raising; elected, sheriff, Indiana County (1867-1870); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives for the 1877 and 1878 terms; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1879 term; unsuccessful campaign for reelection to the House (1882; Democratic candidate, 1886); unsuccessful campaign, United States Congress (1890, Democratic candidate); died, August 23, 1891 in Rayne Township, Indiana County, Pennsylvania; interred, Oakland Cemetery, Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania.
