WATSON, Harry, a Representative from Mercer County; born, February 20, 1846 in Watson’s Ridge, Indiana County, Pa; attended, Elder Ridge Academy, drummer, 84th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry (1862, Civil War); private, Company G, 152nd Regiment, 3rd Pennsylvania Heavy Artillery (1864-1865, Civil War); served, Pennsylvania National Guard; journalist, Pittsburgh newspapers (1866-1873); publisher and editor, Greenville Argus and Shenango Valley Argus (1873-1878); elected as a Republican to the Pennsylvania House of Representatives to serve the 1879 term; not a candidate for reelection to the House for the 1881 term; cashier, Greenville National Bank (30 years); elected, board member, Greenville School district; president, board of trustees, Greenville Hospital (6 years); president, Farmers and Merchants’ Trust Company; vice president, Mitchell-Watson Coal and Coke Company; elected, delegate, Republican National Convention (1908); member, National Welfare and Food Administrator, Mercer County (1918-1919); died, July 19, 1919 in Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania; interred, Shenango Valley Cemetery, Greenville, Mercer County, Pennsylvania.
